The secret to getting hired at Memphis City Schools was wearing a suit and tie to the interview; good recommendations; good interviewing skills, and much patience. I kept calling them every week until they told me I was hired; then I began calling twice to gently probe and prod them about a position. I dealt with the Human Resources people by being polite, courteous, rational, persistent, and logical; rather than being confrontation, short, or angry.
