Experiences at ABILITY magazine

ABILITY magazine is a publication which portrays the skills and acheivements demonstrated by celebrities who have disabilities or illnesses--some visible to the public and others hidden. The magazine focuses on exhibiting these peoples' talents, as opposed to concentrating on the issues which may have held them back.

With that said, getting hired at ABILITY does not just require the typical Journalism degree and the desire to write/edit. Moreso, a candidate must display values of acceptance and open-mindedness. He or she must have an interest in health matters. Working as an Editorial Intern at ABILITY took a lot of time and committment. A prospective hire must understand that this is a very serious internship which takes a lot of time, but will teach you everything you need to know about magazine production and heavy-duty editing and layout design....

wrote articles for the magazine based on celebrities and health matters, proofed layouts, flowed type into Quark, proofread stories, transcribed interviews, turned already-transcribed interviews into articles & fact-checked
