My first day & hour on the job, my boss Bob Hanley, a DVP in corporate comp., asked me to schedule a conference room for a meeting. I couldn't find one open on the times he asked for and none I thought befitting his status, so I settled for a different time and tried to book a "very nice" conference room. I then politely called the scheduling department to reserve this room only to find out that it was already booked. I asked by whom, the nice lady on the other line told me it was reserved for Miles White. Again, I politely but firmly asked the lady if she could just "bump him off" to the next time slot so my boss, a DVP, can use it for his meeting. I never got that conference room, but I got another one nevertheless. The next morning, I went to work and everyone was snickering...I found out later on that day from my boss that I just tried to bump off the President of Abbott Laboratories out of his own conference room. The nice lady on the other line, was his secretary. My contract as a temp was extended several times and Miles White's secretary get's a kick out of the incident whenever I'd drop off paperwork for him....
