What are the most challenging aspects of your job at Agren Blando Court Reporting & Video?

The most challenging aspect of my job is staying fresh and aware of the priority heirarchy when I am working in four different departments concurrently in a single day (it happens a lot). It's easy to get overwhelmed or caught up in a problematic project when there are other, simpler tasks that can be completed first.

It's a challenge I enjoy, and I take pride in how much I get done during the week.

What's the toughest problem you've had to solve at Agren Blando Court Reporting & Video?

Our workflow application was written in an antiquated version of Lotus Notes and the designer locked the design templates. We needed to generate a client report using specific criteria. With no previous programming experience outside of Access/Excel modules, I wrote a command line program to open a Notes Session, grab the data, filter the data, and populate an Access database. From there, I generated the report.

To a professional programmer, this probably seems laughably simple, but for me, it was a significant challenge, and awakened in me the desire to learn more about computer programming.

How would you describe what you did at Agren Blando Court Reporting & Video?

I run the Scanning & Copying Department, as well as assist in both Video and General Production. I supervise one 1099 employee.

I develop custom software applications and facilitate software purchases. It is my job to make sure our company is on the cutting edge of litigation support as far
as software goes.

I do most of the graphic design work, from business cards to advertisements to logos for our web page.
