What are the most challenging aspects of your job at Apple?

When a customer walks in with an amazing idea, but no experience with the computer on how to make it happen. Usually they are intimidated and are less open to learning because they feel they need to limit themselves. I have to find a way to build their confidence and teach at their level without putting them down. A Mac Genius has to wear many hats, but a fitting description would be "resident tech guru." I am responsible for helping customers with face to face technical issues, performing repairs, and keeping all store technical assets running smoothly. I frequently take it up on myself to reach beyond the standard Mac Genius role; recently, I developed a Ruby on Rails application specifically tailored to store-related business processes which weren't adequately addressed by systems already in place.... read more
