How would you describe what you did at Asante Health Care Systems?

I started out at Asante as a clerk in Medical Records and quickly moved to the clerk in Medical Transcription. I learned the hospital systems and made friends in many departments, which helped me to do the best work I could do. I then went to school for medical transcription and hired on as a Medical Transcriptionist for the remainder of time until I left the company. I loved to hear problems that the doctors and my coworkers would have and then fix the problems. They seemed to come to me for almost any problem because they knew that I would do my best and could either go to the right person or fix the problem myself in less time than others could. It feels great to thought of highly by the "top guns" at work. Management wasn't always happy with my success, but I did get the various jobs done (in addition to mentoring others) and it was usually a happy situation all around.... read more

What's the secret to getting hired at Asante Health Care Systems?

I am very personable and have been self-employed several times throughout my life, so interviewing is a skill that I have had experience with on both sides of the desk. I love to learn new things, and I enjoy seeing and doing work that is flawless. I grew up wanting to be a doctor but ended up driving a top fuel race car for many of the years I would have spent in school. After having 5 children (who are all grown up now) I realized that watching their mother drag racing could be a very bad experience for my kids should the worst happen, so I changed my life and worked with children as an early childhood educator, then started working in the medical field as a medical transcriptionist, as it still feels that I am helping patients with the best of my skills at this point in my life.
