How would you describe what you did at Best Buy?

Loss Prevention, the name says it all. But my main job was to make sure we didn't lose money as a store. Either by employee theft, product damage, display(s), customer theft, and inventory discrepancy. The thing that I excelled at, with this job and others, was making sure product that was ordered enter into the system correctly, and displayed and sold according to price. One remarkable mistake that I noticed was a 32in T.V that was being sold for $9.99. Though I wasn't the first to notice it, I was the first in the store. I immediately pulled the product from the floor, and made sure that if it was sold it would be sold at the correct price. The product was eventually priced correctly. And pushed back to the floor.

I enjoyed my job, I took great pride in preventing the loss of money to simple mistakes. And I feel liked I excelled at that.

What's the secret to getting hired at Best Buy?

Knowing the product, understanding the needs of the company, know the needs of the store, and the needs of the position. Prepare yourself for every possible question regarding the position your applying for. And share experiences, and in that short amount of time explain why YOUR and asset to the company.... read more

How would you describe what you did at Best Buy?

Between the Sales and Product Process positions, I led teams that directly impacted the entire customer experience. Best Buy sales reps are not commissioned, and a major challenge is to keep them motivated and dedicated to serving the customer by presenting the right solution. The best place to start this process is by hiring the right people! I also led teams that performed all of the merchandizing and inventory control processes in the stores. These employees had a variety of skill and motivation levels, so adapting my leadership style to effectively address all of the needs was essential.... read more

What are the most challenging aspects of your job at Best Buy?

The most challenging aspect of my job is trying to balance my performance (extended warrenties, Reward Zone, BBY Credit Cards and Mastercards) with trying to make the customer happy. Sometimes it has been necessary for me to not offer all of these services to insure that the customer is happy and will come back to shop with us again. This is a necessary challenge because if the customer signs up for a service but are still unhappy with their experience at the store, they are not going to be a repeat customer.... read more

How would you describe what you did at Best Buy?

At Best Buy, I am primarily a cashier. This involves making sure all items are correctly priced, offering 'Black Tie Protection' (extended warranties), offering Reward Zone and Best Buy Credit Cards, and most importantly, I made sure that the customer had a good experience while at our store. I also was utilized in customer service. I made returns, exchanges, price corrections and handled complaints and repairs. I have help in all departments of the store, helping to sell and complete the customers experience at Best Buy. I was also involved in helping to unload deliveries, and to stock product as well as helping with the Loss Prevention Team in deterring employee and customer theft.... read more
