How would you describe what you did at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB)?

I was a marine biology major and still am very interested in marine science. However, I decided to switch my major to biology in order to open up my career options. I received President Honor's List in Fall 2005 and have a current GPA of 3.4. I work hard and study hard!

What's the toughest problem you've had to solve at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB)?

It was challenging to gain a global perspective on art history, because other cultures view art differently. To do the job properly, you have to become part archaeologist, part sociologist, etc.

How would you describe what you did at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB)?

I took an interdisciplinary approach to art and art history. (An artist should be very familiar with the entire tradition and body of work of fellow artists throughout history, in order to understand how his own work fits into the big picture. Likewise, an art historian should have practical expertise with the artist's craft, so that he can discuss various media & techniques with depth and the authority of first-hand knowledge.)
While doing post-grad work at CSULB, I joined efforts to steer the Art History Department towards a more global perspective. In addition to networking with key personnel in the Department, I assembled a bibliography of relevant texts in order to help achieve this objective.
