What did you learn along the way at Citigroup?

Treat people with respect and courtesy and they will return the favor most of the time. Even if someone is working for you it does not profit you to treat them with less than the full measure of common courtesy throughout the day. If they respect you, they work harder for you.

Keeping all of these aspects in fine tune balance as to not alienate any of our coworkers in addition to running the team was a daily juggling act that I thrived on.... read more

I handled irate internal customers, detailed technical settings and files, the day to day team lead reviews and HR responsibilities in addition to being a member of the team and completing my fair share of the daily processing work. I was the liaison between the team and the auditors and functioned as the auditor's eyes and ears during audits of groups we supported. The days were not the longest I had ever worked, but they were certainly crammed full of short deadlines and demanding customers.... read more

What's the secret to getting hired at Citigroup?

Having a positive attitude and getting in with the technical recruiters and temporary/contracting firms. Citigroup rarely if ever hires directly from the streets without the person first being a contractor for a length of time. Second is patience. When the job openings do get posted, put your name in quickly, but the postings are few and far between and normally come following a long hiring freeze.... read more
