Working for myself has been rewarding on so many levels. For one thing, instead of one "boss," every client becomes who you work for. I welcome that change every day, making different clients happy every day. I also love the changes in projects, since I am a chronic multi-tasker, it's great for me to balance a few different things to focus on. Sometimes I solve one design problem while working on another!
When running your own business, you really wear a multitude of different hats, whether they fall under your skill set or not. What better way to get to know yourself than by the challenges of setting up a new corporation, talking to accountant about finances, or collecting a past due invoice? Once you've managed every aspect of a business, you really learn not just your strengths and weaknesses but what you enjoy the most....
