Experiences at CleverSet

Show up, walk and get coffee with everyone and then it's time to strain our brains. Break for lunch. Solve some more problems and get creative. Go and get another coffee. Have an impromptu brainstorming session. And eventually go home. Tomorrow it all starts again...but no day is the same. Problems and challenges abound....

I found my job here through a craigslist posting. What a lucky find. This is my favourite job so far!

We are located in one of those converted wharehouse buildings near the waterfront. So, big and open. A large central area for congregating surrounded by shared and/or individual offices. My office has a window and is full of toys and goodness....robots + monkeys everywhere!

Lunches are a time to talk shop or just talk to talk. We usually walk to somewhere nearby and munch together or grab something to go and gab here.

We have a very casual environment, some people wear jeans + tshirts while others are more business casual with slacks + button-downs. At CleverSet you can be you.....we won't tell you what to wear.

We are a startup so everyone gets to wear many hats and there are tons of ways in which you can shine. At CleverSet the sky is the limit!

The interview process is very laid-back for a technical company. The first stage involves a simple phone conversation where both parties get a chance to explore the opportunity and potential fit.

The second phase is a 2-3 hour on-site interview process where the candidate gets to meet with everyone in the company and I mean everyone from the CEO, CTO, Sales and Engineering. So, there are both technical (white boarding and problems) and non-technical which focus more on personality fit, etc.

After that we debrief and if we like you and think you'll make a good fit ask for references, check them, and then make the offer....

I have an awesome commute, I ride my bike 5 miles, I have a leisurely pace so that's about 30 minutes. I love it. I get to exercise and arrive at work awake and invigorated! Plus, we have showers, lockers and bike storage in the building; so, my bike is safe and I am fresh and ready to go.

On the off chance that I'm feeling under the weather I ride the bus and use my company provided flex-pass. I don't like riding the bus much, so I usually ride rain or shine....

My friend Queena called me and told me there were amazing brains at CleverSet, so I checked it out. Turns out there was a lot for me to learn here, so I took the plunge!

I commute 7 miles. I love it. I never want to work on the Eastside again!
