How would you describe what you did at Clinton Conservation District?

Worked under two grants. Under the Forestry Grant (the Forestry Assistance Program through the Michigan Department of Agriculture), I provided information and technical assistance to woodlot owners to enable them to better plan, manage, protect and utilize their woodland, wildlife and related resources. I wrote management plans for woodlot owners, including Forest Stewardship Plans, and helped get them in forestry cost-share programs. I hosted and presented at meetings of the local county Woodlot Club, and wrote forestry articles for the county paper. I executed the district tree sale of 75,000 trees, which involved vast amounts of customer service and sales. Under the Conservation Innovation Grant (through the Natural Resource Conservation Service), I was focused on the testing, education, and utilization of a new web-based High Impact Targeting tool for modeling and predicting areas at high-risk for sedimentation and erosion. In addition, I worked with agricultural producers to identify and correct natural resource issues using existing conservation programs including the Michigan Groundwater Stewardship Program, the Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program, and other conservation programs through the 2002 Farm Bill. I served on the monitoring committee for the Friends of the Maple River group, compiling and completing the monitoring plan for said group. I also managed the website for the district at http://www.clintonconservation.org... read more
