Experiences at Epic Systems

At Epic you will be working on many tasks simultaneously. So on of the most important skills is to be organized. If you are good at interacting with people it definitely helps. Being friendly and having a positive outlook towards life and definite plus points.

Unless you ABSOLUTELY need a job here, I would not recommend this company for the following reasons (this pertains to the IT/technical services/server systems/etc. positions):

The software you will be supporting is old, outdated, and not very popular (cache database and M programming language). After you leave Epic, who will want to hire you and pay you more money for all your expertise in this area?

Almost no corporate structure. If you happen to go on an on-site interview, ask to see a corporate chart of their hierarchy (hint--there is not one). Ask what your title would be if you were to be "promoted" (the answer is "we don't do titles here"). Heck, just ask what the qualifications are to be promoted.

Compensation is a big mystery. Ask if they have a bonus, they will say "yes". Ask what the average has been for the position you're applying for over the last two years, and they will say "we can't tell you that". And why not? Hrmmm....

Hours. Who wants to work 50-60+ hours a week without the corresponding compensation?

Basically if you desperately need a job and have no other alternatives, think about this one. Just realize it will be detrimental to your long-term career growth/potential....

The dress code is entirely open at the office...People walk around barefoot! The dress code in front of clients is simply that clothes are required... But I believe a professional appearance is the norm.
