Experiences at Express

No secret. Fashion has to be your passion and it will shine if so through the interview process. Any thing involving the team, communication skills, leading by example, people skills, control your controllables because we are all dealt the same deck of cards.

The most challenging aspect of my job at Express was learning to deal with the many types of personalities that I came in contact with on a day to day basis. This not only applied to co-workers but with clients as well. The general public can be very trying to deal with at times, learning how not to take things personally was a very key part of the job....

* Devised and implemented a recruiting, hiring and training plan that hired 50 new sales staff for the holiday season, resulting in the most highly successful holiday season in three years.
* Developed a store work schedule for part time staff that distributed the number of work hours based on employee sales productivity, resulting in immediate turn around in both productivity and payroll control while letting underperforming employees self-select out of retail sales.
* Trained stock team in proper merchandize flow processing techniques and sales team on how to replenish sales floor when product was sold, contributing to increase in sales in last two quarters
* Initiated team building initiatives with store staff to adapt to management style of new store manager including direct communications to new manager when directives were unclear or confusing, resulting in an empowered team that developed positive relationship with new boss....

The secret to getting hired at Express is having a sense of urgency, having people skills, being professional, while enjoying fashion. Express is a fun place to work however it can be challenging and keep you thinking of fast solutions to problems.

The store that I currently work at is the best team I have ever worked with period.

While visiting my aunt for the summer in Atlanta, GA I was at the mall looking for a job. That specific location was closed for remolding but looking for fresh new employees. I put in my application and got a call the very same day!

Other than my great discount I really enjoy the people I work with and that I meet while working.
