I was the second assistant, which meant my job duties included the following ,but not limited to great customer service, counting tills, assisting the guests,light stocking, organizing the store,putting products out, ordering merchandise, general cleaning and what we called recovery.. which basically means making the shelves look organized.... read more

What's the secret to getting hired at Family Dollar?

I dont really think there was any kind of secret that got my hired for this particular position, other than My manager told my after she hired me that I seemed very confident, and she knew that I would be a great employee from the way I expressed interest in the products that we sold and the way I interacted with customers.... read more

I did a little bit of everything. I stocked the store, ran the front end. I made bank runs and did inventory.

What are the most challenging aspects of your job at Family Dollar?

I had worked from 7am-9pm...for about 2 wks straight. BUT...I truly didn't mind because I enjoyed what I did.

I opened & closed the store, rang on registers, stocked shelves, unloaded deliveries & a wide variety of other job duties (up to & including the following:)....stocking shelves, ordering merchandise, keeping the store neat & clean, handled money transactions (closing down registers, calculating the deposits, getting change, etc.... read more

Dress professionally & have a positive attitude when interviewed. Also, it helps to have some retail experience, and explain to the hiring manager how working for this company would be an uplifting experiance, both, for yourself, as well as for the company.

How would you describe what you did at Family Dollar?

There were various day to day duties. They consisted of correctly opening the store for daily business. I would also have to suffiently delegate job duties to other associates. I would have to problem solve daily to please customers.
