Implement the State's federally approved NPDES Stormwater Program, including interfacing with local government staff, elected officials, the general public and business owners.
Engage regulated entities through the creation and implementation of outreach campaigns to inform permittees of their obligations under the law to comply with the permit.
Determine Agency action to issue and effectively manage permits for operators of approximately 350 regulated Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4s), typically operated by local governments.
Perform a technical review of permit applications, permits, reports, or records submitted by permitted entities in order to determine permit compliance, as well as conduct site inspections or audits for compliance and enforcement of the laws.
Coordinate with other water quality programs those which implement Total Maximum Daily Loads, (TMDLs) to structure compatibility among water quality based programs.
Provide oversight of contracted activities, including permit application processing for nearly 20, 000 stormwater permits state-wide.
Review and approve contract deliverables. Evaluate performance of contracted activities.
Assist with rule development, including public meetings.
Participate and coordinate in a project to develop an online application system.
