What's the toughest problem you've had to solve at Fortunoff?

Firing people. It is by far the hardest thing to do, especially when they do not understand, inspite, of all the counciling what the problem is.

What are the most challenging aspects of your job at Fortunoff?

Managing 25 people who do not always have been indoctrinated with a good work ethic, and a devfotion to the company they are employed for. By the time I get them they hav already been trained, and their work habits, or lack of, have been formed. Retraining people whose work ethics are in place is very challenging.

I have been in business for more than 36 years so the work aspect is a walk in the park. It is about identifying, organizing and expediting the necessary functions to get the job done. I work well under pressure and stress.

What's the secret to getting hired at Fortunoff?

the secret to gettinghired is a sense of security about who I am and wehat I can do. Being quakified for the job they are looking to fill. A certain level of polish and attire is mandatory from the company. A certain educational level, at least a BBA, is required from their exectuives. One has to be abke to multi task effeciently and effectively. We have to work under pressure with a sense of dedication unsurpassed. We have to love what we do.... read more

Buyer of outdoor furniture from international and domestic manufacturers with an annual volume of $89 million. Travel annually to China for vendor development of requested merchandise and sourcing of new vendors. Creation of store floor plans and assortments for upcoming season. Planned monthly advertising of catalog and print.
Create and execute retail and custom order pricing. Supervises Assistant Buyer and
Administrative Assistant. Created a webpage for the corporate website to sell outdoor furniture to the consumer. Developed product information manuals and facilitates sales and product training. Responsible for merchandising of internet store, sales tracking and retail update.
