What are the most challenging aspects of your job at Gamestop?

The amount they put on one person to complete and be responsible for. Especially during the holiday season the Store Managers are responsible for everything and our stores are much busier then during 3/4 of the year. It is hard to keep things together, and often you just can't but you have to do your best and try to make time to get it back together when you can. Dealing with more then 200 customers a day sometimes by yourself is a huge challenge when you have other tasks you must also deal with.... read more

For over the last year I have been in charge of everything on the store level. I would receive directives from my DM or through emails and follow them as well as perform daily tasks such as marketing, inventory counts, stock balancing, price changes, scheduling, and paperwork. What's the secret to getting hired at Gamestop?

Persistence and good customer interaction. If a store manager notices that you can have good conversations with people and know what you are talking about then they will see you as a good candidate for their store. They want associates that can help the customers because that is something that must come naturally. Other store tasks can be taught but to see someone genuinely enthusiastic about what they are going to be selling and able to talk about it with someone without speaking down to them is a necessity.... read more

Have very good people schools and vast knowledge of systems and applications on various platforms. Able to adapt to new technology and research on your own time to be familiar as soon as possible for the benefit of the company.

How would you describe what you did at Gamestop?

Monitor and maintained computer and network equipment for
corporate office and Website. Performed file systems backups and
restores from tapes and servers. Worked closely with the EMC Legato
system along with other backup systems, managed the tape Library including
LTO 1 and 3 tapes, EMC
Legato Snapimage, EMC Legato SQL server and
EMC Legato Microsoft Exchange. Scheduled and ran all backups using EMC Legato,
troubleshooted errors and was on-call for issues from simple user errors to major system outages.
Also troubleshooted job errors and server errors in coordination with other
on-call personal. Developed and maintained department technical
and operational documentation. Led daily turnover meetings and
Change Control meetings. Assisted users with a variety of problems
including scheduling maintenance outages, repairing and upgrading
all computer systems in the data center, which included Novell Networking of the
support center and provided multilevel support for customers on all hardware and software
problems. Took calls from various users all over the world and help troubleshoot
whatever issues they have. Worked closely with HR , Production and Engineering.

Working a registrar, helping customers with general problems, cleaning open sales clean, gutting games and receiving them for customers. Salesgirl for magazine and cards.

The secret to getting hired at gamestop is to be personable, smart, and have a good sense of yourself. If you don't know who you are than you won't be able to sell a product right. How would you describe what you did at Gamestop?

It was a competitive sales enviroment. I sold Game Informer magazines. Along with computer games, system games, and game systems. I also handled customer problems and helped train some empoyees. I was one of the top sales employees other than the managers. I also bought and sold used products.
