How would you describe what you did at HSBC?

This project involved analyzing the existing purge processes for the CII system which has data stored in IMS and DB2 databases. This 3 decade old system has no purge process and as per theR2 Architechture the IMS databases could not be expanded, so there was a need to analyse and modify or develop a whole purge process for all customer related IMS segments and db2 tables.
Responsibilities:
??? Participated in JAD (joint application design) sessions and created user requirement documents.
??? Carried out Impact & Non-impact analysis of online and batch COBOL programs having IMS-DB and DB2 calls and JCL Jobs for the changes required and its impact in the existing purge processes.
??? Coded 200 COBOL programs having IMS-DB and VSAM files using alternate indexes, 300 Jobs for the complete purge process. Coordinated the coding and testing of the complete process by a team of 6 members.
??? DB2 database utilities like LOAD, UNLOAD used to download and upload the data (Runstats, copy, reorg etc )
??? To reduce the time of DB2 download jobs changed the DB2 COBOL programs to Quikjob for faster execution after downloading the data from the tables
??? Created new DLI and BMP PSBs for the new COBOL BMP and DLI IMS-DB purge programs.
??? Scheduled the jobs through CA7 scheduler and the purge process run in production in 11 hours; freeing up around 30% of IMS and 15% of the db2 space.
??? Created complicated test scenarios by Data manipulation using DB2 platinum and SPUFI, File-AID IMS, File-aid for files and also using Syncsort
??? Managed this project through MPP and Clarity.
Environment: IMS DB 9.0, DB2 8.0, COBOL 370, JCL, File-Aid 8.9 for files, DB2 & IMS, Xpeditor 7.4, Serena Changeman, Syncsort, Quikjob (Report : Vision), VSAM, IAM files, DB2 Spufi & Platinum tools, FTP, CA7
