People have a lot of misconceptions about people who fit in to the culture of Hot Topic. One of the most challenging aspects of the job was overcoming those misconceptions with new customers.

I was an assistant manager. I had to lead and motivate my team to make sales. I ran the register, handled returns. I worked with customers everyday. I had to be able to make decisions while remaining calm. I had to be able to merchandise product and put new shipments out. I opened and closed the store. Counted money for deposits....

Be persistant, show that you know how to sell and know the merchandise you are going to sell at the interview.

I worked at the register ringing people up, I also worked on the sales floor helping people find what they needed and adding on to their purchases.

I helped customers find the clothing they were looking for and I made sure they left with the best deals and a happy face.
