What are the most challenging aspects of your job at Impact Networking?

The most challenging aspect was dealing with the unique challenges that arose during the implementation process. Some examples would be developing an ODBC connection with an access database over a highly secured network, uncovering a bug in one of our software packages dealing with OCR technology and developing an in-house fix for it, setting up user rights in both a domain and workgroup environment, integrating with many different client software packages including Logimax, Microsoft Dynamics, Great Plains, Microsoft Navision, MAS90 and Wintegrate.

Another challenging aspect was dealing with a variety of customers who had different levels of comfort with computers. As an integrator I had to find a way to explain complex IT concepts in a manor that was easily understood to users of all levels. Closely mirroring this was also having to work through end-user acceptance of the software packages we had installed and address user level concerns and objections.

Dealing with customer complaints when something went wrong was stressful and challenging but I took great pride in being able to quickly and professionally resolve customer issues while maintaining my company's image and promoting future business. I really enjoyed tackling issues and looked at resolving customer complaints as an opportunity to excel and differentiate ourselves from our competition.

What's the secret to getting hired at Impact Networking?

Being a "do it yourselfer" not being afraid to learn new skills, speak in front of clients, persuade clients on changing their work habits. Self-sufficient learning style, like to travel, quickly adapt to new challenges, have a tough skin to work through customer objections and complaints and resolve those issues. Ability to make customers feel at ease with what is usually a drastic change in their work environment (migrating to a paperless office).

The reason why I was successful at Impact Networking is because I love a good challenge. I inheritated an undermanned territory that didn't have time for a new hire to slowly learn the software we sold and how to integrate it with customer IT infrastructure. Our branch sales manager had been dealing with finding new sales, installing current deals, and supporting past customers. We had one systems integrator who had to take care of customers as far apart as joliet and waukeegan at the same time. We had two customers who needed immediate attention or there was a risk to losing them as customers.

I quickly rose to the challenge and learned our product offering in less than two months, becoming CDIA+ and Docuware certified during that same period. When I was hired my manager told me he wasn't expecting me to be fully educated before 5-6 months. Because I took it upon myself to become an expert as quickly as possible I was able to diagnose what was the core issue facing both customers, addressed it in a professional maner, reestablished our brand name at these sites and transformed them from upset clients to flagship referrals for future business.

One of the surprise results of working at this employer was I found that I really enjoyed using technology to solve complex business challenges and teaching my clients how to use this technology, regardless of what the technology was. I believe this flexibility would make me a good asset to a company looking for a long-term loyal employee who firmly believes and practices the values of teamwork, self motivation, and innovation.
