Experiences at Invitrogen

The Plumtree Internet portals implementation, the licensing and grants databases, a few of the aquisitions during the last couple years I was with Invitrogen.

Some are on a soccor team, others race sailboats, many go to the happy hours at local bar/grills, and many have BBQ's.

That would definatly have to be James Gilmore's Custom Services Business Unit before the reorg. dismantled the business units and James moved on to head the Bioreliance business segment.

Didn't really have time to listen to music, I was always too busy to stay still very long.

I would like for the founder and ex-CEO to go back to being the CEO and to have the ex-CFO to come back from retirement and take his job back as the CFO instead of just being a member of the BOD.

You get an hour to "fend for yourself"... but many opt for bringing their lunches and eating at their desk so they can exercise at a nearby gym or the beach during their lunch hour.,

It started out very corporate casual, but after the reorg., it has become more professional dress, with the exception of most men do not wear jackets and ties unless meeting with visitors or interviewees.

The opportunities for advancement are wonderful! I actually advanced twice durning my four years with Invitrogen. The last advancement was directly related to the reorganization they went through towards the end of 2003.

It's pretty sreamlined. When you arrive for an interview, always be about a half hour early, since their staff is usually in and out of meetings constantly, your interview might be moved up or pushed back slightly. Make sure you answer their questions directly and bring all associated paperwork with you... they don't waste time at Invitrogen....
