How would you describe what you did at Janet Wainwright Public Relations?

My positioin was "Film Coordinator" and I was responsible for all aspects of publicity and promotions for films I was in charge of. I worked with local press, newspapers, television stations, radio stations, and local retailers to promote films in Seattle and Portland. I networked with key people and worked to develope strong relationships to ensure professional success for all parties involved. I was also responsible for handling last minute requests from film studios or unexpected problems and had to be able to problem solve quickly and effectively. What are the three best things about working at Janet Wainwright Public Relations?

1. Designing and implementing creative promotional plans for each movie
2. Lots of free movie swag (posters, t-shirts, etc)
3. Seeing movies in advance of opening, running PA Tours when celebrities come to promote their films

What's the interview process like at Janet Wainwright Public Relations?

Very conversational interview with Janet (aka "big boss"), and usually one other person. The questions were standard fare along with unique questions about your favorite movies, directors, actors, etc, and questions about creative marketing/promotion campaigns you've pulled off in the past. High-level questions might include giving examples of what you'd do to promote XYZ upcoming film.... read more
