I started out in customer service. Running the register and pulling products for other artists. I then became a full time retail artist, where i earned certifications. I ended my time at MAC as a Product Specialist where i coordinated team "looks" for events. I was in charge of all new displays and products that came in as well as continuing to do makeup applications for clients....

Having drive and ambition

There really is no secret to it. It is always good to go in with a broad knowledge of the company that you are interested in being employed by. Especially if it is a cosmetics company, you should know the product as well as be able to talk about it and wear it. Having minimal retail experience is always a plus. If you are interested in artistry positions, it is always good to know certain sanitory practices as well. MAC loves for the artist to be interacitve with the customer/client. It is always a PLUS while you are applying the makeup to be communicating to the customer what you are doing and why and confirming their knowledge that they understand....

The ability to present your skills and assests to the company. Showing your knowledge to of current trends in fashion and make up. Excellent make up application, communication skills, and the ability to maintain a high level of sales and customer service. Confidence and self presentation is key.
