How would you describe what you did at Martin Call Center?

OMG!!! Where do I begin?...

The poster below (Brittany) was very gracious and diplomatic in describing her duties. However, here's my uncensored recollection: This place is just one fraction of a step above flipping hamburgers. Subtract the grease, put on a headset and... Voila! you've
got it !!! The atmosphere? (Ha!) is oppressive and not unlike that of a plantation and/or kindergarten classroom. There are about 6 rows of pods. Periodically, and by some apparently predetermined decree, "Massa"(oops, I mean the MANAGERS), but mostly "The Overseers" (oops, I mean SUPERVISORS) parade up and down the aisles of this 21st century, air conditioned, "Plantation" offering "help" and sniffing out violators of "The Rules". Rules such as: No drinks without childproof (oops, I mean SPILLPROOF) tops. No talking to the slave (oops, I mean PERSON) in front of you. No phone calls (in or out). Counting your bathroom breaks. No leaving the premises during the 15 minute paroles (oops, I mean BREAKS).... etc; Absolutely no respect and no dignity. They don't even have basic supplies!!!. What they do have is: THE stapler, THE paper clip, THE pencil and THE pen. Lord help you if any one of these four items goes missing!!! An APB is sure to follow!!

Every now and then, as an incentive, they'll dangle a Milk Bone (Oops, I mean $5.00 Wawa gift card) in front of you as a reward/goal---Can you say-- "Oh,goody"! boys and girls!!?. An absolute DREAM JOB for anyone with low self-esteem.

Although affiliated with the popular "Martin Agency" of Gecko/Geico and Caveman fame; make no mistake about it....There is absolutely NO resemblance to it whatsoever !!. NO creativity and NO brain activity needed. In short...No pulse!!!. One of the most unprofessional (at this point words escape me...) ORGANIZATIONS(oxymoron), I am ashamed to say, I have ever been involved with. For me, it was a humbling experience; one I hope never to repeat. If it weren't for the fact that people's real lives were involved, this would be funny. But they are; and it's not. Most people don't even officially resign...they just "up and leave" or are unceremoniously let go. The only clue you may get that someone is planning their departure is when personal items mysteriously start disappearing from the workstation of the soon-to-be escapee a few pieces at a time over the course of two or three days. AND the person has to be gone at least a week before someone misses them and gets up the nerve to ask what happened to them. Hospital? Vacation? Fired? (Big group hug anyone? Kumbayah? ).

Yep , you,ve got it folks !! A real circus ...complete with tightrope, sideshows and a couple of elephants ;-). But it is the clowns who are definitely in charge here!!! Consider yourself warned. Did I mention that your name has to begin with La, Da, Ja or end in Qua to work here? (Jennifers, Sallys, Beths, Marys...need not apply !) Brittany, with a name like that, how did you ever manage to get hired?

Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty; I'm Free at last! ( Dr.Martin Luther King, Jr.)
