How would you describe what you did at NYU Medical Center?

Center for Brain Health

Worked with both PET and MRI images using MIDAS software packages. Prepared PET images for coregistration procedures by removing the brainstem from the images, sampled white matter, and removed stray pixels of radioactivity from outside the brain that would affect
coregistration. Drew head size measurements on MRI scans following the intradural margin.
Developed knowledge in the Unix program and navigation of Unix.
Organized hard copy of CBH MRI scans in a storage cabinet.
Various Office duties (Answering telephone, photocopying, organizing???)

How would you describe what you did at NYU Medical Center?

Neurodegenerative Conformational Disorders Laboratory

Worked with mice expressing Alzheimer's disease, Salmonella, and various prion diseases including Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.
Laboratory Skills acquired during this experience:
Profused and sacrificed mice, removed various organs including
brain, eyes, spleen and intestine, placed brains in paraformaldehyde, changed from paraformaldehyde to DMSO glycerol, sliced brains, mounted brain slices onto microscope slides, stained the slides with Cresyl Violet, Xylene, and Thiflavine, analyzed slices for plaques and neuron loss.
Prepared Western Blots
Incubated mice with an oral vaccine for amyloidoses.
Preformed memory testing on mice.
