What's one of the projects you worked on at Orange County Counsel?I worked on the transfer of the courthouses back to the state under the Lockyer- Isenberg Act. This had major implications and ramifications throughout the county. Despite the legislation being enacted in 1995, they are still in the transfer process.

What's the interview process like at Orange County Counsel?I had a panel interview with four people. The panel included County Counsel Lon Watson (now deceased), Jim Meade (now retired), Deb Gmeiner (now retired), Tom Agin (now retired). The entire administration of the office has changed since I was hired.

What was your major and how applicable is it to your position at Orange County Counsel?My major was psychology. This was very helpful when I was prosecuting Welfare and Institutions Code section 5300 (imminent threat) cases and conservatorship cases. I also found the underlying information to allow me insight into many medical records I have read in a variety of situations.

What was the main reason for accepting your job (location, opportunity, money) at Orange County Counsel?I returned to Orange County after the death of a relative who I was very close to. I agreed to return to Orange County to help her daughter and four children.

What's the funniest thing that ever happened to you at Orange County Counsel?I was in court on a mental health case and the defendant came out of lock up with a huge turban made of toilet paper on her head. She then proceeded to testify as if this was merely an accessory to her outfit.
