As a contractor to PangoMedia, I filled the roles as a technical writer and an Xhtml editor. As a technical writer, I was responsible for writing training material for an asset and work management system. This system included Maximo and Business Objects. How would you describe what you did at PangoMedia?

Chief Technical Architect, Tech Lead, and Team Leader of several concurrent projects.

Invented WASP - http://wasp.sourceforge.net Open Source object oriented web application framework for PHP5. The framework is a 3-tier architecture for implementing quick-to-market apps in PHP.

Systems
Analyst, Architect, Lead Developer and Team Lead of Alaska Housing Finance Corporation eMortgage software. The application is written in Java J2EE using Hibernate and JSPs running on Websphere 6 with user session and rights management stored in PostgreSQL and transaction data processing through RMI to AS/400 iSeries DB2 server.

Systems Analyst, Tech Lead, Senior Developer of Boys and Girls Club of Alaska Profile Management Tool for managing all areas of the organization.

Instructor for various classes, including Java 2 Programming language and Object Oriented Programming and Design. Achieved highest ratings in course and instructor feedback.

How did you find your job at PangoMedia?

I started the company in my spare bedroom in 1997 with a good friend of mine. I sold my ownership in 2005, and PangoMedia is still a going (and growing) concern. You go, guys!

What did you learn along the way at PangoMedia?

The interesting thing about being a consultant is you're also a sales guy. Whether your onsite working on a project, giving a talk at a convention, teaching a class about Java, or at the coffee shop with your Pango vest on, the best way to sell your company's skills and services is to be yourself, do your best, and show off why you were hired in the first place.... read more

What's one of the projects you worked on at PangoMedia?

The great part about working at a consulting shop is the breadth of projects you get to work on. I worked on more disparate projects the year and a half I was there than anywhere else I've ever worked. Everything form Java, to PHP, to C#, to XML Web Services for people like the Boys and Girls Club of Alaska, Frontier Charter School, Alaska Housing and Finance Corporation, and even the US Navy.... read more

What's unique about working at PangoMedia?

PangoMedia has such a great collaborative work environment. It was such a small group, it really did feel like a family - just about everyone there were after-work friends. They even helped me move, twice! The open attitude carried over to the office. Everyone discussed their work in the open, and you could walk over to anyone's desk and see what they were working on get them to help you out if you needed it.... read more

What's a typical day like at PangoMedia?

Working at PangoMedia involves a LOT of variety... It's a small (15ish) person web consulting firm. Because your project load can vary wildly from week to week, you tend to get to touch a lot of unique projects and sometimes wear a lot of different hats.
