What's the secret to getting hired at RGIS Inventory Specialists?

RGIS is one of the worst companies to work for.I agree there. They are shady and some of the people working there are always getting involved in my personal life and I am getting tired of their crap.I have been working there for over 5 years too long,I am almost getting ready to quit. They work you to death, then it comes down to you not having no work at all, especially during the holidays. Then they will deny you an off day and say it is mandatory because it was in their stupid newsletter and that's why.I have to change an appointment because of these jerks.I knew way beforehand the day I needed off before this so called mandatory work day ever came about. In these hard times, how can anybody expect to work in this place and pay for rent, bills or whatever, else. This is good for making extra money only,in my opinion. Oh,another thing, the area manager we have at RGIS,I won't mention her name, but I will call her Tiffany,I can't stand her,she thinks she's better than everyone else and she's always causing problems for me and she thinks she is me. They should get rid of that piece of crap, along with her so called assistant and some others too that should be gone from there.I would not recommend anyone wasting their time there.... read more

What's the secret to getting hired at RGIS Inventory Specialists?

There is no secret...You apply and get hired. You have to take small test to see if you can count. They hire anyone. We even filled out our own paperwork for our taxes. The place is corrupt.

What's the secret to getting hired at RGIS Inventory Specialists?

Rgis is one of the worst companies to work for in the world at the moment. From low pay to hardly ever seeing a raise and the horrible hours (which constantly change) if you work for this company you should quit.
Let me start and try to make this short from my perspective.
I started
working for RGIS four years ago, I started at 9 dollars an hour, not bad. I worked with a team specifically contracted to wal-mart. In my first year and a half i went from the base pay to 10.40. That's when things went wrong. The company saw a change in owners from the original owners to a large corporation. That corp. put an end to raises by merit. After the end of my third year on that team thanks to a hernia and returning to college i switched to a local district. Big mistake (switching to local not college).
I have spent the rest of this story with this team specifically. District 353, out of binghamton ny. Since my start i have been indispensable but i get little recognition. And thanks multiple changes in policy i have not and will not see a raise ever again.

Here's why i will never see a raise again.
In order to get a raise you must meet the companies requirements to get one. The requirements being whats called the EAPH (Earned Amount Per Hour). This is not only the number of items that you count in the store but how much you earn the company. They go hand in hand. It is impossible to meet these requirements without tons of practice, this could take months if you lucky to years, with little or no benefit. These number do not take into account what or where you are counting, there are pre-set amounts for each store that you do.
For example there are two modes for counting, auto scan scans one item per upc so each time you scan it puts in 1 item. This is used for clothes and high priced items or specific areas in many stores. The second method is the manual count this mode allows you to scan one upc and count all of the similar product with the same upc and put in a full quantity, one upc can equal 2, 3 4, etc etc items. The second method is what earns your raises, the more you count the more you earn. But not is always the case such as mine.
I am a good hard worker, i do many things from helping close down everything after a count to doing those pesky auto scan area that no one else can or wants to do.... to keep their numbers up. This is why i will never see a raise with the current system. ( By the way the current president of operations is an idiot.. just saying) But its not always auto scan areas that can do you in. What if you need to wait for the store to assist you, sometimes you need assistance to scan an item for one reason or another, they don't always come right away and sometimes not at all.
Sometimes there are not alot of items in an area, or sometimes they are just big. ( you have to count refrigerators, tv's, and other large appliances so heavy lifting is a must) And that takes time, time that chips away at your EAPH, remember that.
So I hope that you understand why i will never see a raise in this company again. Oh and all those employees that have been with the company for years and years beyond me, they got pay cuts, many have quit. Shows what loyalty to your company gets you. 25 + years and you get 10 dollars taken out of your pay. Sorry guys, guess loyalty isn't nearly as important to some one who will never see or care about as money is.
I just hope that some of those lawsuits against this company as well as those that will spring up put the people that run it in their place and maybe open their eyes to the plight that they bring to those that work for them. From no raises to hardly any medical benefits ( which you will pay more than its worth) there is little more to work for here and there is no such thing as a real career in this company. Your just a number here.

What's the secret to getting hired at RGIS Inventory Specialists?

The experience was both rewarding and dark. The management in the 1980's was based on survival and expansion, both of which were accomplished...But to answer the question of being hired is for the most part based on the whim of the district of area manager, as the custom in the above times was passing a timed math test. This had little to do with hiring, based on need and all sorts of unrelated factors were the primary functions of how many people were needed based on the upcoming weekend or crunch period. Corrpution always takes various forms....beware........... read more

What are the most challenging aspects of your job at RGIS Inventory Specialists?

The most challenging part of my job was the schedule. Hours varied from week to week. There was no guarantee of hours per week, because if no stores needed to be inventoried, then there were no hours to give. Plus, most of the stores wanted RGIS out in 4-5 hours, so even if you worked 7 days a week, thats still less than 30 hours a week. And sometimes, we would work late at night, and then have to be back at work early in the morning.... read more

How would you describe what you did at RGIS Inventory Specialists?

My job at RGIS was to take inventory of any number of stores. Unlike some companies, we don't associate just with one or two chains or only one type of store. RGIS has contracts with both major chains and small businesses, in almost any field: automotive, clothing, sports, electronics, healthcare, etc. And as a team leader, I also had the added responsibilities of supervising inventories, preparing the store and equipment beforehand, training new people, running flow, driving the crew to and from the inventories, and running the computer during inventories.... read more

What's the secret to getting hired at RGIS Inventory Specialists?

For this job, you must be able to count items quickly. The most efficient way to do this is to demonstrate what we call "K Key" ability, the ability to use the K (or constant) key. Instead of individualy counting out 35 items on a shelf, you instantly recognize 7 groups of 5 and input 5-5-5-5-5-5-5. The machine adds it up for you. You also must be able to work a variety of hours. Inventory usually doesn't happen during open hours, so sometimes we work early in the morning or late at night, and often times out of town.... read more

What's the secret to getting hired at RGIS Inventory Specialists?

Having a pulse and knowing how to count to 10! I worked @ RGIS for several yrs. and overall I enjoyed my experience. I met several wonderful people. The hours are hectic. Although it's part-time work, some mornings start as early as 3 a.m. some nights stores end as late as 5/6 a.m. Some Supervisor were nice, but for the most part this Co. has too many chiefs and not enough indians!... read more
