What are the three best things about working at
Racepoint Group?
The Company: Marijean and Larry have made a huge impact on shaping the PR industry into what it was is today, and together are defining it's shape for tomorrow. Working at Racepoint means working within the W2 Group marketing ecosystem. We've set out to create a group of companies who together can meet any organization's next generation communications needs. We create exceptionally innovative client work for exceptionally innovative clients. Having been in business for only five years, the growth in Boston, London & San Francisco has been mind-boggling, with much more excitement to come by year's end.
New Employee Experience: For new employees, we've crafted a thorough orientation, training programs, and an ambassador program to create a seamless transition into Racepoint and to help you acclimate into our culture. We have the most competitive benefits package in the industry, which includes 100% paid health, dental insurance for individuals and families, Company paid LTD, STD and Life Insurance, a generous time off package, $1000 fitness & wellness reimbursement, on & off site learning and development programs. We also offer a 6 week sabbatical upon 5 years of service, monthly events and far too much free food.
On the Job: We have a highly communicative, collaborative, entrepreneurial work environment. We have the best senior management team in the industry; masters of their crafts who genuinely care, about each member of their account teams and play active roles within their development and on their accounts. We pride ourselves on the fact that we have structure where it supports the work, but minimal bureaucracy and an apolitical atmosphere, which fosters communication and allows each employees' voice to be heard regardless of title.. Each employee's growth is entirely determined by their performance.. Our leadership team understands that, the creation of superior work as our #1 priority is intrinsically tied to the talent, engagement and ongoing development of the employees who are creating the results.. We reward excellence.
Personally: I've had mentoring, guidance and support balanced with complete autonomy in my role. From my first day, our CEO took me under her wing and shared the importance of finding the right people to fulfill the W2 Group vision. Since then, she's continued to teach, inspire and challenges me to think differently. I've been allowed to craft a role that optimizes my natural competencies, but still allows me to continue to grow. I sincerely feel lucky to have landed at Racepoint....

What are the most challenging aspects of your job at
Racepoint Group?
It takes time to find the A-list; the most talented, creative and motivated PR professionals who can hang with Racepoint's pace and expectations of quality in a tight market.
Because I genuinely like, respect and care for the people I work with as human beings and professionals, I want to meet their needs quickly and consistently. At times, as the new business train charges ahead and as the business grows exponentially, there are moments when we land several new accounts simultaneously, and I'm not able to meet the staffing needs of my colleagues as immediately as I'd like. I never shy away from a challenge, though, and thankfully, I work with an incredibly supportive group of people....

What's the secret to getting hired at
Racepoint Group?
Send me an e-mail at smason@racepointgroup.com
We're looking for authentic, talented, forward thinking PR professionals at all levels of the organization who are interested in the evolution of PR as an industry. Outside of an obvious mastery of the craft and experience within an agency setting, Racepoint's looking for strategists who exhibit strong leadership skills and can mentor and develop members of their teams. The pace is fast, and it's an awesome opportunity to work within an entrepreneurial environment with access to some of the people who shaped the industry into what it is today....
