What are the opportunities for advancement at Rare Bird Enterprises?None or unlimited. However much I can make of what I offer, that's the limit. Yet there's no one to catch and no ladder, one higher than the next guy. So, depends on what "advancement" means.

What's your workspace like at Rare Bird Enterprises?12 x 12 office with a door. Walls lined with tech books, huge blackboard (Actual slate - you write on it with stuff called "chalk."), enough chairs for a small meeting.

What's one thing you would like to change at Rare Bird Enterprises?More local (Seattle) work. Long-term clients have included LA, NYC, Iowa City, & Bethlehem Pa. Industry events have includes Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Phoenix, and Sophia, Bulgaria. Nice, but not home.

What are the three best things about working at Rare Bird Enterprises?I know I'm doing some good because my clients don't have to pay me. Every gig is different, so I'm never bored. Time and freedom to learn, write and publish - including after years doing only PHB stuff, now I get to geek-out again, too.

What's your daily commute like at Rare Bird Enterprises?30 seconds walking to the downstairs office. Or a five hour flight to a client site. Not much in-between.

How did you find your job at Rare Bird Enterprises?Recruited and relocated to Seattle during the dot-bomb, then took a layoff during "the worst recession in the region in 30 years." Meanwhile, I discovered I like living here. Since things were tight in tech at the time, I started saying "yes" when someone asked if I could help. That stuck.
