Experiences at Reuters Mexico

I was in charge of the selection of Mexico new office, installation and data center change. It was a one year project with great results, not only at a company level, as in the finance sector level because no customers were affected during the transition. The new offices were pointed as the best ones in Reuters and we used as a demo offices for new landlord's customers....

Reuters is an international finance systems, service and information provider.

POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT.
Based in Mexico City, and reporting to the Head of Latin America, the position is responsible for Planning and Operating all products and services within the region. This includes all Information Technology (IT) activities including data center operations, telecommunications, Customer Help Desk (Siebel), project management, Information and Trading Systems implementation and maintenance, Management Information Systems, and related financial tasks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES.
* IT strategy within the Front Line Business Unit.
* Provides consultative services to clients and prospects to facilitate the integration of Reuters' data into their systems environment and platforms.
* Budgeting and forecasting capital and other items taking into account strategy, capacity planning, business activity levels, marketing and sales strategies, plus special initiatives.
* Resource management including forecasting IT resources, and development of staff.
* Ensures Business Continuity Plans are implemented and maintained.
* Evaluates new products and technologies taking into account industry trends and apply within Reuters when appropriate benefit can be gained
* Acts as Chief Security Officer
* Responsible for the internal infrastructure such as building, facilities, etc.

ACHIEVEMENTS.
* Project Leader of new Information Systems in Latin America, using Internet and Digital Broadcast Systems.
* Gave pre-sales support for all Professional Services customers, leading the company to a new product line.
* Mexico was the number one country in client satisfaction globally in Reuters.
* Customer Migration to new IT systems due to Guadalajara, Monterrey and Panama Data Center closures.
* Implementation of the CMM-I (Capability Maturity Model. Integrated) in Mexico.
* Implementation of Reuter's information, transactional and contingency systems for Banamex-Citigroup treasury floor (+90 traders).
* Planning, Design, Construction and implementation of the new Reuters Mexico offices and Data Center in Mexico City.
* Customer and Internal systems 2000 compliance project....
