Experiences at Safeway

I would Open/Close the Deli as scheduled. Assisted customers at the Deli counter and throughout the store. Checked out the customers at the register, bagged purchases and tendered money or used the credit card machine. Made sandwiches and party trays. Also cooked foods as needed. Ordered supplies according to schedule....

Just make sure that you not only do what your told, but do things that your boss usually does. If they do something menial like sweeping the curb, do it too. Not only will this make one less thing for them to do, but they will see that your observant and responsible. Make sure that you are indespensible. If they fire you, can they pick up any Jack off the street and put him in your position? Personalize your shift, make it stand out and unique....

Well, no secret really. As long as you are willing to make customers welcome and comfortable by greeting them and offering help when you believe they need it. I believe customers should always be a top priority at Safeway.
