My position over 4 years held a great number of challenges as the organization changed so to did their requirements. Each senior person within the organization had to be ready and able to make the necessary changes to their job functions and their role within the organization including taking on new work that didn't always fit with their skillsets.
The Siemens environment is one where much can be learned and where opportunity to learn is readily provided. However, as with any other larger organization some of the learning is hard won! There are times when you are learning in the midst of actually doing the work rather than the more formal processes of learning first than doing. I think this is a great way to learn most times but it can be tough sometimes.
My work included direct project management, program management, resource management, practice management, solution design, proposal writing, P&L management, sales pipeline management in partnership with the sales organization, hiring, recruiting, project audit, methodology development, Intellectual Capital development, and a plethora of other one off projects to develop a practice and go to market approach for consulting services....
