For a large regional and national insurance company, test internal software and hardware used to handle data transfer and process claims among regional offices and the headquarters office; also, help create a test automation strategy and framework for this group.

Not all MIcrosoft vendor agencies are created equally. Solutions IQ had its advantages and disadvantages. They were very hands-off, so no weekly meetings or status reports to fill in = good. But then I never really knew anyone at the company (I worked onsite at Microsoft on this particular contract), and I didn't receive benefits like paid time off or health insurance, which was not-so-good. You take the good, you take the bad......

One of the things that I learned is that contractors at Microsoft live in a weird limbo state. They have responsibility for the projects they are assigned to, but no real power. SolutionsIQ was good about backing me up when needed, but the overall placement at Microsoft was a great education about the way that company works, and the trade-offs you make to work there as a contractor....
