I miss meeting new people and meeting new challenges.

Cake & Cookie books and magazines.

A client came early for pick up and took her sheet cake with her to her hair dresser. When whe was showing her cake to everyone she dropped it face down. She called in tears. By the time she came back to me I had another cake ready for her at no charge. Then, and only then, could we laugh about that moment....

Work hard and be always willing to learn new things. Have fun with what you do and try to keep a smile in your heart because it will come through in your work.

To make my gumpaste flowers in white and color them in later. No to do favors, it comes back to bite you! And that was a shame, because I really, really love to help people when I can.

Meeting new people. Being involved in their happiness. Hearing about how they loved the cake. Meeting a challenge.

Doing everything with out internet. I had a computer, so I designed my brochures, flyers, etc.. Also, being able to find a recipe or design in the many, many books and magazines I had was a challenge. To solve this I made a spread sheet for recipes and one for designs. That way, I could look for, example; car cakes, and go right to that on my spread sheet and be able to find the cakes in a short amout of time....

I consulted with brides and other clients. Designed the cakes. Baked the cakes and made my own frostings, including Fondant. I did a complete set up of wedding cakes and decorated the cake table with any items the bride left for me.

Owning the business and doing it all. Also, I did all of this out of my home, which I would never do again.
