"Summit Advanced Marketing" is one of about 800 million similarly named "multi-level marketing" companies that operate all over the United States and Canada. They advertise on job posting boards as "sports marketing," or some such, to rope you in. The "interview" consists of selling things door-to-door (in my case, tire coupons, believe it or not) for twelve hours or longer. I have no less than five friends who went on similar "interviews," with five different companies (all of which, upon further investigation, are connected to each other in some way). Hilariously, all six of us had the identical experience of people cheering and ringing a bell in another room, while the "manager" (who looked about 23) tried to immediately pressure us into accepting a job.
Multi-level marketing companies are, essentially, barely legal versions of Pyramid and Ponzi schemes. They don't make money by selling anything, they make money by hiring more people (when a company is interviewing twelve people at a time on a nearly daily basis, this is a bad sign), who in turn are told to help hire more people, and so on and so on. So, if you enjoy creepy, cult-like behavior, and spending 70 hours a week walking around neighborhoods trying to get people to buy pizza coupons, while an extremely confused (and, in my case, increasingly irate) "interviewee" trails along, be my guest....
