Experiences at UBICS

Honestly you can't walk to much. We are on top of a hill in a fairly new office park, that lies amidst some very scenic Pennsylvania countryside. We sometimes take a walk at lunchtime through a new housing development that adjoins our space. But there are really no stores or restauraunts or anything that you can walk to....

Generally they head to a sports bar down the road called Jays.
It is built into the side of an ice arena where the Pittsburgh Penguins used to practice. You can sit at the bar and watch college or high school hockey through the windows, or sit out on the patio when the weather is nice.

I was introduced by a friend whom I worked with at my last company. The President of that company was quite a bombastic and abusive fellow. After falling short of his quota one month, he called my buddy a name in front of a conference room full of people that most drunken sailors would be reluctant to use. He quit that afternoon. A couple of weeks later I caught up with him and gave him my resume, as I did not want to be the next conference room whipping boy....

Definitely the name of the company! People often misunderstand on the phone and think I am talking about a bodily region that lies just north of the thighs.

I don't listen to music at work, since my near co-workers and I spend such a large amount of time on the phone.

I am in a cubicle, though it is a rather large cubicle, and considering that we're in cubicles the workspace is relatively quiet. The environment is open and dynamic, people are always walking back and forth to ask questions or exchange ideas. And if you need to find someone it is easily done by
sticking your head over the top of the cube (except for one
manager who is about 5 foot 5)...

Business casual, maybe a step below (jeans casual) on Fridays. Except during football season, when it is Steeler Black and Gold wall to wall.

We have a great bunch of people here. We are a pretty loose group, but can kick it into gear and be highly productive when there is business to be done. The work environment is collegial and fun. And our parent company brews beer (they send some free samples every now and then!)
