How would you describe what you did at USPS?

I started as a casual clerk at a small office. I would help ouot in areas they were short in. I would help sort mail and put in the post office boxes. I did this for as many terms as I was allowed while waiting to get an interview. I was hired as an RCA first and did that for about 2 years. I was then hired as a clerk. I have been doing this for over 12 years. I sort the mail, work the retail window, supervise, do the financial paperwork and anything that needs to be done.... read more

What's the secret to getting hired at USPS?

You have to take a test and get your name on a register according to your score. You choose offices in which you would like to be employed. If they are hiring, your name if it is in the top,gets pulled from the register. You go for an interview.

DEALT WITH CUSTOMERS BOTH FACE TO FACE AND VIA THE TELEPHONE.ASSISTS CUSTOMERS WITH ANY CONCERNS THEY HAVE(MISSING/TORN MAIL;INDEMNITY CLAIMS;PRODUCTS/SERVICES OFFERED).

Started as a letter carrier. Then went into supervision. In this position I was responsible for the everyday task of getting mail to up to 26,000 deliveries. I was responsible for payroll, inventory control, customer relations, labor relations, OSHA and FLSA. Was also responsible for work evaluation and maintaining and achieving goals.... read more

How did you find your job at USPS?

When I was 19 I was going into the Airforce. I found out my mother had cancer, and I didn't go. The next month the Post Office called and asked if I wanted to start.
