How would you describe what you did at United Parcel Service?

As a certified member of the Human Resource Management Society, I was responsible for staffing an operation of over 1500 employees during the year. During peak season increasing the temporary staffing to just under 1000.
I handled non-union employee relations and worked directly with the Labor
Relations manager concerning unionized employees.
Benefits, compensation, and retirement packages were handled by a clerical pool that I reviewed before approving. Hourly and management performance evaluations were done two to four times a year and kept by each center. Payroll reports were reviewed daily and corrections were submitted by operations by 11:00 a.m. for the revised hard copy.
Training of new hires, annual certifications, and targeting for promotional tracks of management personel was ongoing.
Safety was a daily responsibility to keep our people strong in the workforce. Same day safety follow-up, or immediately upon an employees return to work. Proper documentation and a high level of acceptance is essential.
Recruiting, interviewing, processing background checks, and complete files were all done prior to offering a position of employment. Staffing the operations with dependable people and setting them up for success is paramount.
Holding all employees to a clear set of policies and procedures, with integrity being at the core of administrative decisions.
Workers compensation communication with employees and the insurance provider is where a great deal of money can be saved. The proper administrative steps in EEO, FMLA, ADA, and other legislative compliance must be consistently applied. OSHA and Haz-Mat practices must also be documented to eliminate undue fines and additional consequences.
I had a staff that was loyal to our people, each other, and most importantly to their role in the day to day business.
All of the things listed must be complimented from the CEO right to the most recent new hire, to keep the liablilty and expenses at bay on a minute by minute commitment.
