What's the secret to getting hired at United Rentals?

You have to be a hard worker, who is willing to work long hours. On average, I worked about 10-11 hours a day. You have to be flexible to working on weekends, I worked just about every Saturday while I worked for this company. You also need to have a positive attitude and be able to handle pressure on a daily basis. Being involved in the rental industry you have to also be thick skinned. You will have to deal with complaints on a daily basis because unfortunately rental equipment does break down from time to time.... read more

How would you describe what you did at United Rentals?

Oversaw clerical and administrative functions of the branch
(a) Answer phone calls and troubleshoot employees and customer problems or direct calls to appropriate personnel for response
(b)Prepare correspondence and reports for management.
(2)Coordinate the branch's accounts payable and
receivable functions, including assisting with collections on overdue accounts
(a)Process invoices and checks received
(b)Assist District and Regional service centers with overdue account collections by sending invoices and, on occasion, placing phone calls to customers.
(3)Perform Human Resources and Payroll processing functions for the branch
(a)Assist in new hire orientation and the processing of employee changes (distribute new hire packets and complete and submit ePars for employee changes)
(b)Supervise entries to payroll system and run reports, as requested; sort paychecks.
(4)Maintain equipment and office supplies inventory
(a)Place purchase orders for office supplies and equipment and perform physical count of inventory.
(5)Maintain paper files on branch personnel and branch accounts

It's was a friend who had worked with me at Neff Rentals who recommended me and he knew I knew what I was doing. I was hired on the spot..

How would you describe what you did at United Rentals?

*Worked with contractors regarding billing disputes or mistakes. Booking reservations, writing outgoing rental invoices, and filling in for dispatch (4 Trucks)
*Posting incoming payments to the accounts.
*Back up Administrative Assistant and Accounts Payable
*Build strong rapport, trust
and confidence with customers', Branch Managers, Corporate office personnel, mechanics, yard personnel and collectors in the credit office
*Collected on NSF Checks, worked with our RISK Management and contractors insurance companies for reimbursement on damaged or stolen equipment.
*I have represented the company in small claims court
*Usage of AS400, Excel, Outlook, M/S Word and Power Point
*Review/Collecting A/R aging, mainly 60-120 day past due (at branch level) including making payment arrangements if necessary.
*Trained counter personnel on specific procedures for payment for bigger accounts (i.e. PG&E)
*Review and prepare accounts for outside collections as needed.
*I oversaw the inventory both on a branch level as well as oversaw procedures and discrepancies when corporate came in.
*I have been employee of the month 7 times in 5 years for achieving excellent customer service in an efficient, timely manner as well as safety awards and bonuses.

How would you describe what you did at United Rentals?

My title with United Rentals was Branch Administrator, Daily
events were getting the deposit ready, creating paper work for
reports that were done on a monthly basis, Mail out invoices,
Reconciliation of bank deposits, call on past due customers,
Create reports on credit card payments
through a universal
system named Concur. Account payable procedures done on a daily
business, Human Resource person, following up on employee
questions concerning anything from what is my insurance coverage
to my check was not correct. Payroll every other week for 18
employees. Managing Petty Cash, cash register funds; along with daily reconciliation of cash drawer and monthly reconciliation of Petty Cash. Filling out various forms from Credit Report (references) to W-9 forms for United Rentals, maintain accuracy of Washington State Resale Certificates, Monthly Reports for Branch Manager, Notes for monthly store meetings, Ordering and maintaining office supplies, equipment and mailing supplies. Creating and updating customer files on an ASA 400 system called Rental Man. Anything and everything that needed to be accomplished on a daily business to make our branch run smoothly and operating within United Rentals Policies &
Procedure Bulletins.
