How would you describe what you did at University of New Hampshire?

I'm a German and Linguistics double major who hopes to be a teacher one day or go onto to grad school for either German or Linguistics.

I've lived in a great community, Smith Hall for the last 3 years, in which I have been very involved. I've been in our Hall Council ever since I've lived
there, either as a Floor Representative or Secretary. I've also had various manager positions at events that our dorm puts on each year, like the Interational Food Luncheon and Fiesta. I've been an Entertainment Manager (Fiesta '05), Budget Manager (IFL '05 and Fiesta '06), and a Food Manager (IFL '06).

Currently I am in Austria studying abroad for my major. I'm at the University of Salzburg studying in the German department. By the time I come back to the states, I will have spent 4 1/2 months here. I can't stress how much of a growing up experience this has been and I feel like a more confident person because of it.

What do you miss most about University of New Hampshire?

I miss having my brain expand and swell with all the new information it can withstand. Even the most general beginner classes at UNH blew me away with information I didn't even know existed. Since I've been out of school, I've been behaving like a knowledge vampire-sucking the intelligent lifeblood out of anyone who can provide me with more facts and figures, concepts and ideas. I miss being in school so much I'm making plans for a comeback: a sequel starring a Master's Degree and using a shorter but highly intensified plot.... read more

What's the best team you worked with at University of New Hampshire?

I wouldn't call us a team, we were more of like a cluster of grapes. Grapes with dreams, dreams of creating Oprah-worthy novels or Pulitzer-grabbing poetry. Aegis, the literary magazine I joined (sadly) my last year of college, showed me I wasn't the only one with the crazy notion that the written word was something to be treasured. Granted, we had a lot of rocky, amatuerish submissions, but it was the sorting through of "Ode to Organic Chemistry" and "My Summer Vacation" that made it entertaining and educational.... read more
