What's the secret to getting hired at University of Tokyo?

Because I had a number of publications as a graduate student, I was smoothly hired by Institute of Medical Science, University of Tokyo. During my stay there, I went to Rockefeller University and spent 3 years. There I worked on the Src oncogene and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase. After returning to the same lab, I started working on phosphatidylinositol 3-kinaseprimarily. After 2 years, I moved to Faculty of Agriculture as an associate professor and there I became a professor in 1992. I worked there for a long time but unfortunately I was suffered by the illness, dippression in 2005. To change environment, I moved to Hoshi University to contunue on the research work only. The illness was almost cured here. But the time I can stay here is limited, now I am looking for a job. I am not young but still very active on the bench. You may understand this by looking at my publication list. In most of the work, I gave top authorships to the students, but considerable portions of the work in the paper were done by me. I hope that my activeness on the bench is useful for the new job. It should be also noted that most of the work started from my own observation of the cells. Therefore, most of the works are very unique. Now I concentrate on oncological field, especially, signet ring carcinomas. This cancer is relatively rare in US but very often seen in eastern Asia. The way of treatment of this tumor is not established and many people are dying by this tumor. Signal transduction of this type of tumor has been almost revealed in my laboratory. Because treantment of many???of the tumors are now established, this type of tumor are now becoming an important target of studies in US as well.... read more
