Experiences at University of the Witwatersrand Dept. of Geophysics

1) Traveling over all of southern Africa to deploy and service a seismic network
2) Having giraffe and gazelle as companions out in the field
3) Stretching the scare resources of an under-funded department to build a working geophysics research lab -- largely using donated workstations from mining companies and doing board-level repairs when necessary....

I worked in an intensely multi-cultural environment, and I miss working with eager young scientists-in-training.
