While at Vanderbilt I had a variety of responsibilities. My most important functions were to manage the daily operations of the lab and conduct a research project. In order for a research lab to be sucessuful, data must be generated so grant money keeps coming in. So experiments can't stop, therefore the lab has to be well supplied and properly maintained. I created a system that was designed to efficiently accomplish both. Frequently used and disposable items were placed in designated places and properly labeled. Inventory was checked twice a week in preparation for designated ordering days. For more expensive specialty items, an electronic ordering system was established. Orders were placed on a standard form and routed to the boss (Principal Investigator) who would sign off prior to my purchasing....

Networking, networking, networking..... I can't emphasize that enough. Knowing someone on the "inside" always helps. This is true of any job search but particularly if are seeking employment within a large organization. Resumes of great importance as well. It not necessarily what you write, but how you write it. The first person to review a resume will most likely not be a hiring manager. They may know nothing about your field from a technical aspect. This is why it's important to carefully read the job description even after you've determined your qualified and emphasize those keywords on your resume in a succint manner. There is always time to expand on your qualifications if you get an interview....

Responsibilities included: Patient care, assisting nurses with assessments & vital signs, assisting doctors & nurses with movement & transport of patients along with various other patient procedures.
Feb 2006-March 2006---Nursing Assistant Technical School Nashville, TN Attended & completed the CNA course....
