What are the lunches like at Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development?

Lunches are all different! Some people bring a lunch, some eat in the on-site cafeteria, and some visit one of the many nearby restaurants. The standard lunch break is 45 minutes, but most supervisors are willing to work with you if you want to take more or less time.

What's the funniest thing that ever happened to you at Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development?

I think one of the funniest things that happened at DWD was a coworker and I imitating our boss as we practiced for a skit we were doing at his retirement party. We spontaneously, in a meeting, decided to give our coworkers a glimpse of what we thought Bill was like as a boss, and it turned into a hysterical imitation of all his little quirks! It must have been good because our coworkers laughed like crazy and we still laugh about it several years later. By the way, Bill thought it was funny too when we performed it at his party! :)... read more

What are the five best things you can walk to from Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development?

There are many great things in the vicinity of DWD's main office location in downtown Madison, Wisconsin. We are located one block from our beautiful State Capitol, and the Capitol Square is brimming with events throughout the year including lunchtime musicians, evening concerts, parklike grounds to enjoy, farmer's markets, and much more. We are also very close to the University of Wisconsin - Madison campus, which is located on the shores of Lake Mendota. Between downtown and the campus, you can stroll along State Street, a local shopping and restaurant paradise.
