Experiences at digital equipment

I had an Associates Degree in Electronic Engineering Technology which got my foot in the door as a tester in the Quality Assurance department.

I was hired into a three year financial management training program. I would say the secret was persistence and having top grades in college.

I worked on the design and verification of the Alpha EV8 (21464) microprocessor

Managed customer service objectives for major accounts. Managed volume contracts interacting with customers, sales, and marketing. Managed development of classroom-based training materials for credit analysts. Wrote technical and marketing materials.

Produced a multi-million dollar a year revenue stream, by creating a new typesetting software product line for Digital Equipment Corporation. The product continued to evolve for eight years without significant development cost, saving $50-100K annually.
Saved customers a significant amount of time and money. Pioneered a technique that led directly to the development of SGML and HTML formatting language. Developed a sophisticated "macro processor," providing documentation and examples to train users to simplify formatting....

* Provided hardware and network anomaly resolution for the Network and Systems Integration, Consulting Services, and Multi-Vendor Services groups.
* Analyzed and provided recommendations to improve mission critical fault information display systems.

* Lead 7 member U.S. Desktop Sales team during time of transition and downsizing with minimal impact to customer obligations and deliverables.
* Approved and managed unplanned facility move including space allocation, equipment requirements, and move support. Move executed smoothly despite untimely notification.
* Eliminated historical occurrence of delayed and/or lost equipment saving thousands of dollars in replacement costs and down time....

* Departmental Consultant Engineer representing the company on site during critical customer outages.
* Provided consulting, crash analysis and problem management to other engineers in the department and in the field.
* Provided liaison consulting support between Oracle and Digital Equipment Corp. during joint customer outages.
* Co-developed and participated as project leader and team member of the USEG Digital UNIX Support Team program.
* Small and medium range hardware system on site customer support.
* Multi-operating system support (VMS, RSTS, RSX and ULTRIX).
