How would you describe what you did at fedex?

I still work there, but I am on the market for another line of work. In the past year and a half at Fedex I have performed numerous jobs. I started out working as a package handler, showing up at 3AM to make sure that about 1000 boxes got scanned and loaded into a Wal-Mart trailer.
After a few
months of doing this, I advanced in the company to an Outbound Service Manager, where I work a part-time shift from 5PM to around Mid-night, doing clerical and physical labor work. There were two very important things that needed to be done nightly; One was entering contractor settlements after checking over the information, and Two, was getting the parcels loaded and on the road by 21:00 everynight. Sounds easy, but certain factors play into this role, making it more difficult than what it sounds.
My current position is full-time. I work the AM shift from around midnight into the morning. I oversee twelve package handlers in moving parcels from trailers to the vans in which they will be delivered. About 3000 packages come down the belt that I work on. Every box must be accounted for, scanned, loaded and dispatched for delivery. Again, sounds easy, but managing package handlers and drivers, while maintaining service percentages is a difficult task at times.

What's the secret to getting hired at fedex?

A lot of what Fedex is about is the ability to work in a team setting and also able to manage both the physical and mental workload. If you are able to balance these three things and adjust to a difficult and busy work schedule, Fedex will recognize you and your potential.

How would you describe what you did at fedex?

As a FedEx employee, my goal was to provide outstanding service with each customer experience. With the desire to succeed, I progressed from a part time customer service agent to sales to management. My resume best outlines my corporate progression and provides detailed job descriptions. Each job provided leadership opportunities along with training of others. As a manager my special projects included working closely with benefits and coordinating activites for booths and shows such as the Harley 100th Anniversary in Milwaukee. To enhance community service, I led the District Safe Kids, United Way and March of Dimes activities. As a Senior Manager, our National team of 12 established a new dispatch organization (electronically controls where FedEx trucks make oncall pick-ups each day). My primary set-up responsibility was to evaluate and rewrite the interview process and hiring specifications and also review the training needs of the department. I could easily write a book on my experiences with FedEx, it is a great company to work for.... read more
