Experiences at k-mart

When I started working at K-mart I was a little over 16. At that age it is extremely hard to find a job, so when K-mart wanted to hire me I took them up on it! It turned out to be one of the best things I ever did.

I was majoring in psychology, and working at K-mart gave me countless interactions with different people.

I love working with money, so working the register was perfect for me. I was also going to school to be a psychologist, so working around people was also very enjoyable to me. I also love meeting new people, and working at a retail store like that you meet so many new and interesting people.

A lot of customers get agitated when the computer does not ring something up they way it should, they expected us to know about every product in the store, so when we had to call our suprivisor over they would get very upset. As time went by though I learned different ways to deal with upset customers....

I ran the register, this included transactions with money, credit card, check, or money order. I also aided customers in any questions or problems they may have had. I also straightened up the area around my register along with returning merchandise to its proper place.

Worked at the jewelry counter and on the sales floor assiting customers. Trained new employees at the jewelry counter and on the cash register. Kept the sales floor neat and organized in the apparel department.
