How would you describe what you did at mci?

Served as Vice President of Telecommunication Network and Operations for the North America and European regions.

Directly reported to the CIO, responsible for leading a six-person team: Chief Network Architect, Director of Engineering, Director of Application Infrastructure & Service
Delivery, Director of Data Centers, Director of Network Management, Director of Internet Security, and seventy engineers accountable for the MPLS, VPLS, IPVPN, EVPL design, testing, deployment, PMO operational support, vendor management, overall effectiveness, application QOS efficiency, life cycle management, processes and procedures ensuring specific metrics are met across a 57 sonet mesh MPLS node network consisting of (see below) Tellabs, Juniper, Laurel, Cisco, Sonus, Nortel, and Overture elements.

Key Achievements:

Lead a multi-cultural engineering organization that established global collocation, data center and telecommunication standards across the US, Europe and Japan.

Created new designing, implementation, and management process standards for complete MPLS, VPLS, EVPL, IPVPN, Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity, Telecommunication and Data Centers that saved MCI/WorldCom $2M a month and substantially lowered MCI's domestic telecommunication operational expenses by applying telecommunication architecture optimization, and working with vendors on capacity modeling projects to satisfy all quality control related aspect ensuring that all service level agreements are established, reported, and meet during the time frame of the contract.

Maintained, and managed the ability to bring about strategic transformation within the MCI's engineering organization after the fall of WorldCom by fostering teamwork, aligning effective groups of people toward meeting the renew organizations vision, mission, and business goals.

Proactive identification and resolution of operational issues impacting constituent call centers. Resolved issues that were repetitive, or did not respond to the usual problem resolution proceess. Project management of 3 new desktop applications, along with Operating System and support infrasttucture installation.
